Resume
My career journey has taken me from inside the eyes of hurricanes to the tops of desert sand dunes to the submerged remains of ancient cultures. I have joked with movie stars and written letters to heads of state. I don’t shy away from daunting work, do more than what is expected of me, and I’m passionate about using my creativity to help others. I’m currently commuting to Austin from Copperas Cove and am looking to relocate closer to my work if the right opportunity arises.

I work with reporters and producers to research, shoot and edit stories. In addition to my assigned duties, I assist other videographers and reporters with their assignments and help improve our overall news product. I have covered stories like the flooding in Houston from Tropical Storm Imelda and the ongoing homeless crisis. I have received multiple compliments from management on my shooting and lighting techniques.

I created SoFly Marketing to showcase my drone talents to prospective clients. However, I recently expanded the company to include PR and social media services. I have a 5-star rating on Fiverr with 30+ PR jobs completed since mid-August of 2018. I’ve secured TV placement for multiple clients and written everything from press releases to a letter from a governor thanking the Prime Minister of Denmark.
October 2015 – July 2017
Comm. Specialist/Manager / esd, San Antonio
I was hired as a communications specialist by esd in October and was made their communications manager by the spring of 2016. During that time, I managed graphic design, social media, public relations, digital marketing, and traditional marketing projects for clients in multiple industries.
April 2007 – September 2015
Various / Fox 29 KABB, San Antonio
I began at Fox 29 as an assignments editor, making decisions on what stories our morning show would cover and allocating reporters and photographers to get those stories covered. I also served as a movie critic. I was then transitioned to a photographer role, which ultimately led to me shooting and editing my own stories as a multimedia journalist. From there, I created “Street’s Corner,” an EMMY-nominated features segment that won multiple awards over its five years.
March 2003 – March 2007
Anchor/Reporter/ 550 KTSA, San Antonio, TX
I transitioned to a larger market as an anchor and reporter, interviewing political leaders and newsmakers while turning multiple stories per day. I also assisted our talk show hosts in researching segments and creating comedy bits. I hosted a late night comedy newscast called "S.A.X.!" which I doubt anybody remembers.
December 2001 – March 2003
Reporter / AM 1420 KGNB, New Braunfels, TX
My first reporting job began my sophomore year of college, as I learned “on-the-job” as a reporter. I covered school board and city council meetings and developed a positive reputation as the “Man on the Street.”
Education
March 2014
NPPA Multimedia Immersion Visual Storytelling Workshop Graduate
(I survived "the hot seat" - if you know, you know.)
Dec. 2003
B.A., Communication Studies / Texas Lutheran University
I graduated cum laude in 3.5 years, with a minor in theater. I was also working at the time as a part-time radio reporter in New Braunfels, as well as tying balloon animals at restaurants and birthday parties.
Activities
During my time at esd, I fell in love with the nonprofit sector. I served on an advisory board to The Big Give, a24-hour giving amplification day for San Antonio nonprofits. I also served as a board member, co-director, writer and actor for “The Big Gig,” a live stage comedy fundraiser for the Nonprofit Council of San Antonio.
Despite being a new dad and moving to Austin, I continued to work with “The Big Gig” to help them with their scripts and prep for their show. I enjoy using my skills and creativity to help nonprofits achieve their goals, and hope to find more opportunities to do that in the future.
